At Brick by Brick in San Diego Musicians United to support a benefit show for Vic Nieto, to raise funds after serious health issues that landed him in the ER. SoundSlave, Alchemy, Nightshadow, & Bunch of Heathens rocked the night to spread awareness and support his time of need.
Upon being admitted to the ER he found out that he had been living with undiagnosed advanced stage 2 diabetes. While being comatose they found his pancreas is not functioning, as well as later found he had heart damage and a damaged retina that impairing his vision immensely so he can not see more than a few feet in front of him. Bunch of Heathens, a new Thrash metal band in San Diego, is making their way into the Southern Metal Music scene. Though they have been a band for less than a year they have already had some rad shows under their belt in that time, including opening for Doyle, ya know, the guy from The Misfits!!
Bunch of Heathens opened the show with some rad thrashy metal, all of which you can check out on streaming music platforms like: Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play, Amazon Music and YouTube! Their recordings have a very nostalgic metal sound that brings you back to the early recordings of some of your favorite Thrash metal artists form way back in the early days of thrash recordings. They are a three-piece San Diego band that blasts with power in their live performance. If you are fan of Slayer, Pantera, and Lamb of God then absolutely check them out and try to catch their next show if you’re in Southern California.
Other bands that carried out the night were Nightshadow, a robust power metal five-piece band from San Diego. They are rhythmically assertive and have enchanting melodic guitar moves and Rob Halford type skilled singing that are sure to make you notice them! The exude talent through a power packed set. If you are a fan of bands like Hammerfall, Judas Priest, Kamelot, or good ‘ol Iron Maiden then be sure to check out this talented powerhouse of music.
The Next in line was the Heavy Metal band from across the US border, Tijuana’s Alchemy! Off the bat, the singer, Carlos Yeme, came out guns blazing with jaw dropping energy that carried through the entire set. His stage presence and singing combined with the impressive metal rocking the venue was enough to not let you want to look away. Their photos of the show are sure to give you some examples of the liveliness this band exudes. This band is a power-packed set of epic showmanship that should definitely been seen for yourself!
The end of the night was a woman-fronted cover band, SoundSlave that is a tribute to Soundgarden, Audioslave and of course the late grunge God, Chris Cornell. Yolanda sang a beautiful and strong performance of Soundgarden and Audioslave songs, laced with a female vocal rendition of the songs. This is a band that you can tell has a rad time on stage paying homage to some of their favorite music and the musicians that created these popular songs. Especially since Chris Cornell is no longer apart of this mortal Earth is was nostalgically inviting experience to hear the songs played live in such an intimate venue nonetheless.
